little, yellow, different

The baby looked a little yellow, and since he had a slight case of jaundice before we left the hospital, as a precaution, we took him to the doctor to get checked. Her response? "Well, HE'S ASIAN."

She also had this to say, "He won't look so yellow if you stop dressing him in yellow clothes."
Got it.

Anyway, the jaundice is mild, but still, ew. I hope he gets over it. For now, I gotta go put him in some blue jammies.

Alison was jaundiced too -- she was real good friends with "Billy Ruben" -- anyway, she was super sluggish and wouldn't eat (which did NOT help the breastfeeding at all!). We took her in to the doctor . . . in a YELLOW onesie. The doctor basically said the same thing as yours!

Go have Kid2 lay out in the sun!

Maybe you can craft up some onesies with that slogan for Kid2.

I'm sorry Kid2 is under the weather, or under the color, as the case may be. If it makes you feel any better, Brent laughed out loud when I read him this post. :)

Okay, I give. Who is Billy Ruben and what is the significance of "little, yellow, different"?

Hope baby is feeling better!

Ok, "Little, yellow, different" was the ad campaign for Nuprin, years ago. It was also a line from Wayne's World, not that I would watch such lowbrow things, but whatever...

"Billy Ruben" is actually what the word bilirubin sounds like. Which is something related to jaundice and the liver. Read about that, HERE.

Hello, what am I, a walking wikipedia??

Hi Jenn - I got the goodies today thank you! My #3 had jaundice so bad he got his blood tested about 5 times in 2 weeks. Not only was he yellow, his skin tone was red for awhile (yellow + red = orange) so he was looking like an Oompa Loompa. It was so bad, I had to convert his first month pics to black and white!

LOL!! My first born was jaundiced and for some inexplicable reason looked Asian too. (He isn't).

Congratulations to you and your new love. Welcome to parenthood, the ride of your life :)
