If Ferris dies, he's going to donate his eyes to Stevie Wonder

What would you do if you only had a short time to live? No I'm not talking about the Queen Latifah movie. I'm being serious. Very serious.

I just found out that someone I know may only have a short time to live. Of course I'm hoping beyond hope that this doesn't happen and she recovers, and life...well, will go on.

But it made me think, what would I do in that situation? Would I do all the things I never got to do? Make a list and go down, checking things off as fast as possible? Would I see everyone I wanted to see for one last time? Or would I just stand in the kitchen frosting cupcakes...waiting. I don't know.

What would you do?

I'm delurking here for the first time. I've been reading your blog for a while now, and I really like it.

I think this is a really important question. I mean, shouldn't we always live so that we don't feel the need to make huge changes or do anything drastic if we receive that kind of news? Personally, I would probably treat myself really well, say, daily massages and a personal chef, and then spend time with the people who really matter. My mom has cancer and when her numbers went up recently, she asked herself this same question. She realized that she really didn't have anything she had to do before she died, except keep living her normal life as long as possible. I mostly feel that wya now, and I hope I continue to feel that way as I get older.

I hope this person you know has many more happy years to live.

P.S. Congrats on your new baby, and don't listen to the doctor about your Kid's know him best and if you think he's fine, he probably is.

P.P.S. Sorry for the ridiculously long comment.

I've pondered this a lot, especially after losing some young-ish friends in the last couple of years. Honestly, I can't come up with a good answer, but you've got me thinking on it again.

I so sorry to hear that. I hope your friend recovers. I think about that question all the time. I try to tell the people I care for now that I love them or show them that and persue my interests now because one never knows.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend.

I think #1 would be to quit my job, obviously. After that I would just try to spend as much time with my daughter as humanly possible. I would leave her with a letter or video with advise and make sure she knew I loved her more than life itself.
