My favorite weekend

Kyle's friend Chr*s (KfC) is flying in to come along for ComicCon. He's coming for a week prior, and I have one kid-free day to take him around. I was trying to think of one perfect L.A. day.

Maybe we'd go to Roscoe's for brunch, cause chicken and waffles can't be beat. Then go to the Arclight to see a movie, then to Amoeba for record shopping. Come to think of it, these are all things I wanna do. Maybe he doesn't want to do any of this stuff. I'll just do my perfect day by myself. Screw him. Ha.

Sure those places are all in Hollywood and all in a three block radius. Gas is pricey, people. I have plans for many all the other L.A. vicinities too - Santa Monica, West L.A. Pasadena, O.C. perfect days. Maybe I'll post my plans for those places another time.

Sort of like "My Favorite Weekend" in the L.A. Times...but not lame. Sure all those "celebrities" say they'd hike up Runyon Canyon, eat at Nobu, then head off to yoga, but they are lying. They'd probably just stay home and kick it in front of the tv, truth be told. Where would you go on your perfect day?*

*You don't have to live in L.A. to play this game.

There are so many, so I'll pick one I haven't done in a I'd hope to do this past week while suppposedly on "vacation," but was/is too damn sick to do much of anything.

With my husband, start mid-morning and head out to Westward Beach, where you can park for free. Fly our kite along the beach, as it is never really crowded, even on holidays. Climb over the rocks at the base of Point Dume and have a picnic lunch and nap in the sun. Then hike up to the top of Point Dume and hopefully spy a whale, if the time of year is right. From the top, walk around the "neighborhood" of Point Dume and see the huge, beautiful homes that we'll never be able to afford. Circle down the big hill to the car. Stop off for cold drinks at this cute little market in Malibu (I can't think of the name) and glare at the rich, spoiled children. Drive along PCH and have dinner at Gladstone's, preferrably at a window table. After dinner, head down PCH a little further to Santa Monica for a few midway games on the Pier. Come on and soak our tired muscles in the hot tub.

I like your Hollywood one...can't ever beat the Arclight and Amoeba. I still need to eat at Roscoe's though. Whenever we ponder it, I'm not hungry enough.

What's the deal with chicken and waffles? I hear about this combination sometimes, but here in Canada, we don't usually mix breakfast with chicken.

Saturday we took our out-of-town guests to John O' Groats for breakfaast and Versailles for dinner. If we had had Bay Cities for lunch it would have been the perfect LA day!

I guess I'm boring but the weekends I enjoy the most are the ones I get to spend at home and don't have things pending. I love being able to lounge around, eat, watch movies and just relax. I don't get those too often but I really enjoy them when I do.

Chicken doesn't belong on waffles. It's unnatural. That is all.

Chicken n Waffles is a black thing. I so want to try Roscoe's. And In and Out Burger. I just haven't been far enough that direction yet.

My perfect day. Depends on where you're talking. At home: I want to drive somewhere and see what new things I can experience on the way. Or take a day at Indy for used CD and book binging, Trader Joe's and Coldstone. Maybe Cheesecake Factory or Joe's Crab Shack if the weather's right (on the water:). Or stay home watching movies with my son & his girlfriend.

I found a Wherehouse Music in OKC this year. It was small and lame but I still bought something there.

The husband didn't believe me when I first told him about chicken and waffles restaurants either. But we both like waffle hotdogs and isn't it sorta the same thing.

Perfect day would be to not leave the house and stay in bed reading or sewing. However, it would only be truly perfect if it was a cold day which leaves a one or two week window for such a day to occur. We really need to fix our AC.

Chicken and waffles is not a black thing, as I am not black. And I'd eat it everyday if it didn't make me fat. Or fatter than I already am.

my perfect day would be sleep in as long as I can(which the little monsters never let me do), then lunch on the North Shore (Cholos Mexican -awesome fish tacos-in Haleiwa) then a brief walk on the beach. Some thrift shopping or yard sales and then Shave Ice. For dinner some all you can eat sushi and BYOB at Kats in Honolulu and then back home where my kids wouldn't bug me while i do my current sewing project...hehe, when donkeys fly.
