No one would surrender to the Dread Pirate Westley.

Random stuff.

My hairdresser always goes on about my hair. "You have the most perfect hair. Just PERFECT." I wish someone would say that about my fat ass, but oh well. Back when I was pregnant my hair had even more volume, was more shiny and more...as she said, perfect. Let's hear it for hormones, peeps. As of 5 hours ago, I have a cute Katie-Holmes-ish flirty bob. Sans the crazy.

The Kid's bday party is coming up fast. I haven't done jack. I am too busy trying to get back into the groove after the Death Flu. It's a Peter Pan/pirates party theme, but...what do pirates eat? Please, spare me the pirate jokes.

It's been 2 weeks, and my MIL has completely potty trained the baby. Here's the kicker. We went out to dinner and he yelled, "I GOTTA POOP." Damn. I felt like saying, 'Just go in the diaper, already.'

According to Nanners it's National Delurking (beg for comments) Week. So delurk, and let me know what you think I should cook for this party. For now I'm saying pirates like to eat sandwiches.

I wasn't going to comment, in the spirit of delurking, since I'm a regular, BUT I had to say that you DO have perfect hair. I'm sure the new 'do is perfect too, even though I haven't seen it. Oh, and you are the BEST (and prettiest!) Mom I know. (Feel free to smack me next time you see me! Once you stop laughing!)

I think I may have commented once or twice before but I'm mostly a lurker though I read everyday. You are the first blog of the day, everyday.
I think you could serve sandwiches, maybe tuna sandwiches cut out with a fish shaped cookie cutter? And don't forget the oranges so they don't get scurvy.
If you haven't noticed, I'm not a good cook or very crafty.

Unlurking now.

Isn't mead a pirate drink? Or maybe I'm thinking vikings?

Cute 'do! I was *supposed* to get my hair chopped today, but my stylist just called in sick. Likely story.

As for pirate food, two lame things come to mind. Goldfish crackers. And limes or other citrus stuff, 'cuz of the scurvy. Can you make stuff with Rum in it for a kids party? Probably not, although the parents might appreciate it.

What about grog? I like grog. :) And you can probably make a kid-friendly version and just call it grog.

For some reason I always think of pirates eating turkey legs, and meat on the bone like that. So maybe some kind of chicken drummies.

Finally, Captain Barbossa would insist that you try some apples!

I'm not very creative when it comes to food stuff for parties. Especially boys parties. Heck, that's why I visit your blog, to see if some crativity rubs off on me! Blue jello cups with fish gummies set inside would look neat. Oh and since you are queen of creativity and cupcakes, maybe you can figure out how to make mini treasure chest cupcakes.

We did a pirate party for my son's second birthday. We served "Buccaneer Baked Beans," "Captain's Crackers," and snacks like goldfish & Swedish fish ("bait.") For dessert I made cupcakes that looked that desert islands. There were other cutesy(ridiculous) names but it's too early and my memory is shot.

Sorry, you asked.

I kind of hate you and your perfect hair. Mine is just hopeless.

Of course pirates eat sandwiches. Sandwiches, pirate's booty and those little gold foil-wrapped chocolate coins. Silly.

I don't know what kind of food pirates eat, but if it's Peter Pan and pirates, you gotta have a croc cake!

I have no ideas on pirate foods but I'm betting pirates eat with their hands and don't use girly utensils like forks and spoons.

And they drink out of tin mugs?

Our first kid is due in March so I can't help you much there, I'm sorry.

I'm glad you're starting to bounce back a little from the flu.

I have a bob too. It's a puffy bob that looks good with big bows like Hello Kitty. I think Skull and Crossbones cookies would be fun for your party! or big Hook cookies that they can hold for a photo op. Love the blog justjenn!

My kiddo has been having "faux" poops lately. You know where he says, "poopy diaper" and there's nuttin' there--usually a bedtime delay tactic. So there we are in the theatre during a noisy part of Alvin and the Chipmunks and he says it. I say, "No, you don't." Of course, just then the dialogue and crazy antics end and for a fraction of a second it's dead quiet and he yells, "POOPY DIAPER MOMMM!!" ... criminy....

Ok, on to pirate food, I think you should make up that crock pot of brown sugared smokies and say they are shriveled pirate toes from the leg that got cut off... something like that...

Pirate's Booty. Cap'n Crunch, he's a captain of a boat right? Bc we all know you're big on cereal, and if not then you can always do cap'n crunch chicken/ fish sticks?

Don't know if you've perused the $1 section at Target but mine had some pirate things like the one hand hook, eye patches, and booty bags complete with fake coins.

Fine, I'll delurk. You sucked me in with your Elmo cupcakes and darnit girl, I just can't quit you now.

I have a burgeoning pirate also and, according to David Shannon, pirates eat turkey legs, hunks of cheese, loaves of french bread, salami right off the stick and crackers...of course topped off with grog from a tin cup. You've gotten much better advice from the previous posters though - I'm taking notes for this year's birthday party.

Cut fruit into fish shapes for the blue jello. Those gummies get gunky in a short amount of time. Not really appealing.

You'll have to make a walk the plank game. That's all I've got.

My brother got me mead for Christmas. I haven't tried it yet. It's supposed to be really good but really strong. I need to get some mild cheeses...
