Jenna: Oh, it's the Japanese porn star diet. I only eat paper, but I can eat all the paper I want, so...

Last week I had a discussion with a friend about picky eating. I'm not that picky. I mean, compared to other people. Some people won't touch an avocado if their life depended on it. Me, I won't make a stink about it, but there are some things that will forever stay on my 'I'd rather barf' list:

Raw fish. (just ew.)
Bananas. (stinky and mushy.)
Shortening. (Sick! Do you know what that's made of??)
Mayonnaise. (see shortening.)

There one thing that it seems everyone likes, that's Marshmallow Krispy Treats. I like to make mine - not in the regulation sized 9x13 pan, but in the smaller 8x8 pan. That way they are nice and tall and packed solid. SO GOOD. I took these and stuck 'em on a stick as a way to achieve cleaner children. It didn't quite work, but it was better than nothing. The rest I prettied up by dipping them in chocolate, and gave them out to friends:Where does pick-i-ness come from? Is it what you are/are not exposed to as a child? Is it the way a food smells? Or just a bad experience? Cause if it's something traumatic like an egg salad sandwich attacked your dog, then yeah. I feel your pain.

For whatever reason, people in MN LOVE krispie treats. You see huge blocks wrapped in plastic in all the casual restaurants.

personally, I can't eat a treat that doesn't have peanut butter in it.

Definitely, on my experience, comes from childhood events. I can't stand celery (reminds me of horrible situation in kindergarten and throwing up) and string beans (ate it EVERY day for one summer my dad grew an abundance of it). But I could eat rice krispy treats on a regular basis.

For me it's pickles and diet pop.

Yuck. It makes me cringe just typing it.

My list is too long to discuss. I am the pickiest. There are a lot of reasons really: some it's just the thought of what it is (like eggs) or the smell (seafood) or texture (fruit and all things creamy). I think people's brain just gets in the way sometimes.

Have you ever made rice krispy treat ice cream sandwiches? They are AMAZING!

I am an extremely picky eater. But! It's not because of my parents. In fact, they're the most diverse eaters I know and I still won't touch a lot of stuff. Thankfully for my parents, my siblings are much better eaters.

As you know, me no likely spicy, but if someone tells me, "It's not THAT spicy," I'll totally try it.

And I don't like Indian food, but I can usually find something I like (like naan) so I don't stop others from eating it.

I'm with you on bananas and mayo, yuck!! Not sure where the picky habits come from, but my list is long and most stem from childhood. I agree, I have not met a person that doesn't like krispie treats!

LOL at the title (I read that models used to eat tissue paper-ewwww). I love how you've put the marshmallow krispy treats on a popsicle stick! Meanwhile I think I would give most things a go except for offal, most times "offal" is "awful"!
