Straight outta Compton

West Compton, East Gardena, the Harbor Gateway - whatever you call it, it's not the place you'd normally expect to eat an upscale Italian lunch. Oh but it is. IT. IS.

Surrounded by metal factories, car repair shops - you'll find a HUGE sprawling culinary heaven. Eatlian is an Italian eatery like no other, the owners came from Italy with the intention of opening up a distribution center for Italian ingredients - thus the massive space - thankfully they opened a restaurant instead.

They make their own pasta, have a pizza oven, bake their their own bread, MAKE THEIR OWN GELATO - are you drooling yet? Cause I am.

The pasta is hearty and satisfying, the pizza crust is thin and crispy. I've been back um...several times. >embarrassing<
The kids love the gelato, and more so, they love the fact that they can taste the flavors first. The Kid, his new favorite gelato flavor is Panna Cotta. He can't get enough.

The gelato is amazing but hold up --the secret here is the tiramisu. You'd think, eh - tiramisu, a staple of all Italian restaurants - but this, this is...heaven. When it's placed in front of you it looks small, but it will fill you up fast. Unlike other tiramisus this one is NOT soaked within an inch of it's life, and the filling is creamy perfection. I dream about this dessert at night. I'm crying right now thinking about it. That's how much I adore it.

The place isn't overly crowded, but it sure is getting there - word is getting out. THIS is amazing authentic Italian food right here in Los Angeles. If you need me I'll be at the bar. The gelato bar....
