When the moon hits your eye

The weekends are when I stop cooking. I already cook three meals a day for the kids and with over 600+ recipes on my recipe blog, I need a break.

Since I don't allow my kids to eat fast food (I know, I'm a lame mom) I'm always looking for GOOD high quality food in a kid friendly place. Do I have high standards for food? YES. To me if you're going to spend money to eat, whether it's $2 or $20 - it should be something fantastic not just something to put in your body.

While Mozza is some of the best pizza in L.A. it's not kid-friendly but I think I've found the perfect combination, the pizza in L.A....and great for kids!

Pitfire Pizza in Culver City is nicely located, comfortable and wow - are those pizzas good. It was even dubbed 'a place where foodies take their kids to eat.' Well, I can attest to that.

Artisan pizzas are in right now and these hand made crusts have just the right flavor and crunch. The menu will make your mouth water. So many great flavors that come together using seasonal ingredients.

The kids menu is even better, affordable (that's key) it's tailored to suit them it's still comfortable food, but extremely high quality. Just look at that kid's pizza (pic above) I've never been so intrigued by a plain cheese pizza!

I ordered the 'Burrata Pie' because I just can't pass up burrata...ever. Made from mozzarella and cream it's fresh, creamy, melt in your mouth cheese like you've never tasted.

Don't worry, they have regular pepperoni, mushroom, etc pizzas, but I just happen to love greens, so this pizza was perfect for me because it was also topped with arugula, caramelized onion and a playfully odd sprinkling of hazelnuts. They were so delicious and added so much, though they were left a little large and should have been chopped down for my taste. The dentist who newly installed my crown would not be pleased.

Not your average pizza, this is a great local place, where on any weekend you'll see couples on dates, families eating dinner and even the local little league stopping in for an amazing meal.

i don't think you're a lame mom for keeping your kids away from fast food. i find that quite admirable! when my daughter was younger, we kept her away from fast food as long as we could, but once in awhile, we will have a 'treat' at in-n-out but otherwise, we dont' go to a lot of fast food joints.

i really dislke how some places only have fried foods for their kid's menu. they assume that kids will only eat fries, chicken nuggets or burgers. so we pretty much don't order from kid's menus either.

i like how you don't lower your food standards for your children. :)
