Party Animals at Royal T!

Last Thursday I attended the VIP party for the debut of the new Party Animals show at Royal/T Cafe. Royal/t, the shop+maid cafe+art gallery in Culver City is one of my favorite places and whenever they change out the gallery for something new, you know it's going to fun!

While I enjoyed their last 'Facemaker' show, it was sort of nice to see the screened windows go away. Now that the windows are open and the space is full of light again, the art can really shine for the Party Animals exhibit curated by Lindsay Scoggins.
The FoodLibrarian came with me to check it out. The show is an eclectic mix of fun and whimsy. As you enter, the first thing that you see is a GIANT, I mean giant - it is so adorable you wish you could get in there, roll around and have a tea party!
With some of my favorite artists like Takashi Murakami, Jeff Koons, KAWS, and Yoshitomo Nara there was plenty to see, and it being a Royal/T party - there was plenty of fun! A photobooth, A Tribe of Zebras dj-ing, a face painter + balloon animals, inspired cocktails and lots of food.
The Dim Sum truck parked out back and the maids wandered back and forth serving the treats. There was an assortment of snacks but what stood out was a crazy twist on dim sum called the Cheeseburger Dumpling. All I can say is that it tasted like a deep fried In & Out Burger - which believe it or not is a VERY good thing.

The show is fun and unique and since the kids LOVE Royal/T for brunch, I know we will be going back very soon.

Party Animals runs from July 7th - September 24th.
