Rave Cinemas
Recently Rave Cinemas invited me to come take a look at their newly renovated theaters at Howard Hughes Center. Not only does the theater have a new look but there are new concessions, a Burger Bar and great summer deals on movies.
Seeing a movie in IMAX is a quality movie experience. The Rave IMAX theater holds 330 people and features a 70mm screen - the largest in the LA area. A theater that still uses film in this day and age is rare and the IMAX at Rave is so coveted that many local directors screen their movies there, just recently Christopher Nolan watched dailies of Dark Night in the theater.
Rave has great deals for this summer like $7 Tuesdays which includes free validated parking and all 2D theaters tickets are just $7. The deal that has me the most excited is the Marvel Movie Marathon, yes you can sit and watch Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America...all leading up to the big show, the Avengers! This is happening Thursday May 3 and starts at noon with Iron Man and ends at midnight with the Avengers. Whew, that's a long haul but for just $35 for all six movies on the big screen, it's a steal!
When my kids were younger I liked to take advantage of a weekday movie and this summer Rave offers Free Family Film Festivals Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10am. They show a lot of family friendly pics like Happy feet and Dolphin Tale, perfect for little ones. Admission is FREE!
Rave just installed Coca-Cola Freestyle machines at the concessions - I love these things! They are so fun to play with and the best part of course is CHOICE.
Over 100 drink options- you'll find drinks that aren't even on the market like Peach Sprite, Lime Coke and a variety of Fanta flavors.
The new Rave Burger Bar was delicious, the burgers are perfectly cooked and rival high end burger establishments. The menu choices gives guests a variety of options from salad to pizza to shrimp. While the price point is a bit high, the convenience of eating before the movie without rushing to the theater makes it a nice option for an evening out.
What I appreciated the most about Rave Cinemas was the attention to service and value for your money. The movie events and special discounts are definitely high on my list when I think about taking my family out for a day at the movies. I can't wait to come back and see all the summer blockbusters and play with that soda machine!
*full disclosure: Rave cinemas provided me with the movie experience but the opinions on this blog are my own.
